It might not look like much but let me tell you it took ALOT of work to generate these 2 pictures.The first is a shot of the newly installed 27 inch television screen which has been drastically modded to mount inside the cabinet. It still needs to be wired up but fingers crossed I can remember where everything goes and can get it turning on and off without blowing myself up with 20000 volts. The plastic bezel thing you can see, hides the mount and finishes the edging off a little nicer. All that's left is the tinted glass with fixings and she's smicko.
The control panel and mounting has been drawn for a few weeks but I've been waiting on the trackball from America before a circular saw even gets close to the wood. After close to a month, it has finally arrived and, turns out, it will fit nicely into the layout we've drawn. Instead of trying to copy the drawing, I've enlisted some help in the printing of it 1:1 so it can be overlayed and marked out exactly onto the wood. Once created I can build the box to hide all the wiring and the angled support with keyboard drawer.
Its hard for me to describe what it will look like but as they say, a picture says a 1000 words. I hope to have one by the end of the week so keep biting your fingernails in anticipation. I expect the ETA will be late October but that could change depending almost entirely on control panel artwork design.
Still looking and googling for awesome artwork ideas so please keep the thinking caps on. If your thinking about a character, it needs to be arcade related not just retro ok!

Since you poo-poohed the excellent Astro Boy suggestion how about a bit of old school street fighter?
Actually i loved the Astro Boy idea but its taboo to chuck a non arcade character on there.
Street Fighter is definitely on the table along with MK dudes and even misc capcom characters.
At this stage all i really need is the control panel art as the sideart can be done anytime. im thinking i want to have the gauntlet characters feature but cant think of anything else.
Two Word - Awe Some
I'd imagine the control panel art will get dirty and damaged over time so no need to decide only 1 theme for life as you will likely need to replace it within a couple of years.
